Geee
Free Beacon North Carolina Democratic Senate nominee Cal Cunningham's company collected up to $2 million in taxpayer dollars in coronavirus relief even as the candidate said that the Paycheck Protection Program "harms communities." WasteZero, a Raleigh-based environmentalist trash service, obtained between $1 and $2 million in PPP funding on May 3, data released by the Small Business Administration on Monday show. Cunningham earned about $400,000 in 2019 in his role as the company's general counsel and vice president. He has repeatedly criticized the federal program, which aims to support small businesses struggling with coronavirus shutdowns. Just two months after Senate Democrats blocked a Republican effort to bankroll the depleting fund in April, Cunningham called the program "unacceptable," saying it "harms communities." "For PPP loans to have ‘generally missed the industries and areas most heavily impacted by COVID-19' is unacceptable," he said in a tweet. "Leaving behind small businesses—and disproportionately those that are Black- and Latino-owned—harms communities."
Geee
Newsom’s PlumpJack Winery, Hotels Receive PPP Loans; Where Was His Billionaire Partner? Last week California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s PlumpJack Winery received some bad publicity when we reported that PlumpJack’s Napa County wineries were scheduled to be open over the Independence Day holiday weekend because that county was still open while 19 counties (representing 70 percent of the state) were closed. On Friday it was learned that PlumpJack was going to be closed through Monday due to “logistical issues,” but the other three wineries were to stay open. Many Californians were understandably incensed over the episode, because throughout the coronavirus pandemic Newsom’s executive orders have been wildly inconsistent, seemingly politically motivated, and not based on transparent criteria. Now we learn that while thousands of Main Street businesses have been unable to receive financial assistance through the federal Paycheck Protection Plan, PlumpJack Management Group, LLC, received funding in an amount between $150,001 and $300,000 – despite the fact that its majority owner is billionaire Gordon Getty.
