Election Day: Will #GA06 Choose Seasoned Repub Karen Handel or Wet-Behind-the-Ears Dem Jon Ossoff?

Today is the “big day.” It’s the day that Georgians in the Sixth District select their next representative, a seat left open after Tom Price left Congress to become Health and Human Services Secretary. And in the days following the attempted assassination of congressional members, various shenanigans have transpired leading up to today’s election. To illustrate:

Looks like the efforts by California to subvert a Georgia election have failed.  50 million mainly from out of state Dems. Handel is up by 3 and pulling away.  Not a dominating win, but the media has been saying it might need a runoff.

Atlanta (CNN)Republican Karen Handel defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in a high-stakes special election for a Georgia House seat on Tuesday, denying Democrats their first major victory of the Donald Trump era.

Handel led Ossoff by 4.8 percentage points with more than three-fourths of the 6th District's precincts having reported their results at 10 p.m. ET, in the most expensive House race in US history.

It was a much closer margin than the 20-plus point wins typically posted by former Rep. Tom Price -- whose departure to become Trump's health and human services secretary created the vacancy.

But it wasn't what Democrats who pumped $23 million into Ossoff's campaign so desperately craved: A win.

Republican candidate Ralph Norman wins House seat as expected

Republican Ralph Norman has won a special election to fill the South Carolina congressional seat vacated by Mick Mulvaney, who resigned to work for President Donald Trump's administration.

The millionaire real estate developer won Tuesday's special election over Democrat Archie Parnell in the 5th District, which stretches north from Columbia toward the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Norman, a former state lawmaker, ran a campaign aligning himself with President Donald Trump, who won this district in November by more than 18 percentage points. He emerged as the top vote-getter from a seven-way GOP primary and defeated state lawmaker Tommy Pope by just more than 200 votes in a runoff.

I'm seriously disheartened. Republicans in Congress have made it clear that they want to take away healthcare for millions of people, cut Medicaid, reverse civil rights gains, eventually do away with Social Security and Medicare, and cut taxes for the 1%. They are well on their way, and voters just do not seem to care. Do these voters actually support these actions? I cannot fathom why they would. Are we to go back to an existence where only the rich and some white people have rights?

(CNSNews.com) - "High-Stakes Referendum on Trump Takes Shape in a Georgia Special Election," said the headline in The New York Times on June 18. "Republican Claims House Seat in Georgia," said the New York Times headline three days later.
The most expensive House race in history ended badly for Democrats and their politically inexperienced candidate, who no longer lived in the district he wanted to represent.
Republican Karen Handel easily defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff in Tuesday's special election to replace Tom Price, who is now serving as Health and Human Services Secretary.

Handel received 134,595 votes, or 51.9 percent, to Ossoff's 124,893 votes, or 48.1 percent.

Nothing makes the victory more satisfying than to see them throw their money in a pit - unfortunately the MSM usually get it for ads. We are months from the re-election contest for our Dem Senator Tammy Baldwin and they are already running ads for her. Tells me that they are worried.

Republican Karen Handel handily handled Democratic manchild Jon Ossoff in the special election to fill Georgia’s Sixth District congressional seat last night. The race was expected to be a cliffhanger. We were told that we wouldn’t know the outcome until the early morning hours today. By 10:00 p.m., however, it was clear that Handel would prevail. With 100 percent of the votes tabulated, Handel won by about four points or 10,000 votes (out of a total of about 260,000).

The Hollywood/San Francisco crowd invested big time in Ossoff. For the California left, it was the night that the lights went out in Georgia. Roger Simon rightly declares Hollywood a YUUUGE loser last night.

The lynch mob media (as Senator Cotton calls it) also heavily invested in the race — as one could see from the looks of the crew commenting last night on CNN. You didn’t even have to turn up the volume to figure out what was happening. How great is this?

A Georgia special congressional election on Tuesday is being treated as a bellwether of voter sentiment following the chaotic opening act of Donald Trump’s presidency, so it is not much of a surprise that it has drawn a significant degree of Hollywood interest.

Rosie O’Donnell, Jane Fonda, Jessica Lange, Sean Daniel, Connie Britton, Sam Waterston and Kyra Sedgwick are among those who have donated to Democrat Jon Ossoff’s campaign, while others have been participating in phone banks to get out the vote and a few, like actress Alyssa Milano, have volunteered to go door to door in the suburban Atlanta district.

For Republicans, winning never gets monotonous. 

The Karen Handel victory in the Georgia 6th District special election repeats a pattern depressingly familiar to the left.  There have been four special congressional elections since the hated Trump took office, and Democrats have lost all four.  In each contest, the left predicted victory – largely based on what they perceived was hatred of President Trump by ordinary Americans, which would generate "enthusiasm" for the Democrat candidate and drive people in overwhelming numbers to the polls.

Each of the four Democrat candidates was well financed and received strong support from the national party.  Each Democratic candidate's campaign was augmented by hundreds or thousands of activist  volunteer Democrats.  And each and every race was seen as a referendum on Donald Trump – not his policies as much as the man himself.  He is Hitler and Howdy Doody all rolled into one, a traitorous SOB (although most liberals only hint that Trump has committed treason), a threat to the rule of law, and a joke as a president.

And each and every time, liberals have been shocked to discover that ordinary people don't view the president that way.

That’s a very interesting admission/statement for a Politico article.  That’s also an example of what happens when President Trump’s ‘Monster Vote‘ turns out.
