Valin
Via Meadia: 11/21/13 This years global climate summit talks in Warsaw are set to come to a close later this week, and yet again it looks like nothing lasting will come of them. But even by the annual UN summits own dismal standard, this round has been particularly dysfunctional. First, Poland set the tone by scheduling a coal conference in town at the same time as the climate conference proceedings were set to happen. Then, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sent an unmistakeable message to the greens: he replaced his environmental minister, Marin Korolec, who was chairing the talks, with Maciej Grabowski, a former deputy finance minister who has been an outspoken proponent of shale gas in Poland. The newly powerless Mr. Korolec, however, was still tasked with presiding over the climate talks. But the fun didnt end there. Green groups, fed up with the lack of progress in negotiating a Global Climate Treaty, walked out in protest for the first time in the UN climate talks nearly two-decade history. And it wasnt just greens stamping their feet in frustration. A bloc of developing nations known as the Group of 77 walked out with China early yesterday morning over a lack of progress on negotiating so-called loss and damage provisionscompensations for damages from bigger storms, higher seas, and longer droughts. Valin
132 Countries Storm Out of U.N. Global Warming Talks: Not Offered Enough Money John Hinderaker 11/21/13 The modern environmental movement has little or nothing to do with the environment, and a great deal to do with the real green stuff: money. One hundred thirty-two governments are in a huff because their latest attempt at extortion has failed: Poor countries pulled out of the United Nations climate talks during a fight over transferring wealth from richer countries to fight global warming. Wait! How would giving corrupt third world governments hundreds of billions of dollars fight global warming? Dont be silly! Everything a liberal wants to do, for whatever reason, fights global warming. The G77 and China bloc led 132 poor countries in a walk out during talks about loss and damage compensation for the consequences of global warming that countries cannot adapt to, like Typhoon Haiyan. (Snip) This sort of news story is welcome because it clarifies what the global warming movement is all about: money, and nothing else. Everyone who participates in the scam has his hand in your pocket, or wants to.
Valin
Compromise breaks deadlock at UN climate talks KARL RITTER 11/23/13 WARSAW, Poland (AP) Developed countries and fast-growing economies reached a last-minute compromise Saturday to avert a breakdown of U.N. climate talks in Warsaw. Talks were deadlocked after China and India clashed with the U.S. and other developed countries on how to pave the way for a new agreement to fight global warming, with the two insisting that rich countries continue to operate under stricter standards than poor countries. The stalemate was unlocked by a compromise that called on all countries to prepare "contributions," rather than "commitments" for the new deal, which is supposed to be adopted in 2015. Such wording would leave countries with wider latitude in what kind of emissions targets to propose. (Snip) Let Joy Be Unrestrained! We're saved in the nick of time!!!
