Geee
National Review: In Star Trek lore, the Borg was a collective of servile drone operatives that sought to assimilate other species into its “hive mind.” Something akin to that creepy groupthink arose when the Obama administration took power and sought to reformulate the so-called war on terror. Almost immediately, Obama operatives suggested that radical Islamists were no more likely than any other group to commit acts of terrorism. In fact, the very idea of terrorism — not to mention a war against it — was supposedly a Bush-administration construct unfairly aimed at Muslims. Obama apparently sincerely believed that there was no intrinsic connection between Islamism and terror; or, if there was, Islamic radicalism was no more dangerous than right-wing or supposedly Christian-inspired terror. Or if Islamic radicalism did arise, it might be mitigated by multicultural sympathy and outreach, mostly by contextualizing the violence as an inevitable result of prior Western culpability. Valin
@Geee The Obama Borg claim a new victim Scott Johnson 4/30/13 Victor Davis Hanson borrows the concept of the Borg from Star Trek (“the fictional alien race that appears as recurring antagonists in various incarnations”) to capture the Obama administration’s groupthink reformulating the war on terror. The Obama Borg, as Hanson dubs it, dissociate Islam from terrorism. The denial has reached absurd proportions with results that would be laughable if they weren’t so serious and pathetic. We are all familiar with the cases of Obama Borg members Janet Napolitano, John Brennan, James Clapper, Eric Holder, George Casey, and Charles Bolden. Hanson mentions all but Holder, whose case receives attention in Daniel Pipes’s essay “Denying Islam’s role in terrorism: Explaining the denial.” Pipes demonstrates that the phenomenon of denial predates Obama, but it has risen to the status of official doctrine in the Obama administration. (Snip) The Obama Borg have now claimed another victim in the person of Lt. Col. Matthew Dooley. Colonel Dooley is an officer decorated for valor in Iraq and the subject of glowing evaluations.Colonel Dooley has been passed over for a combat battalion command, likely heralding the end of his promising Army career. What is his offense? Colonel Dooley’s offense was to have taught the dangers of radical Islam in a course at the Joint Forces Staff College.......(Snip) From the Pipes article comments... Pepper
@Geee @Valin See one comment from Komrad Cal, Komrad Cal nails it: It's much deeper than a mindset on the war on terror. Liberalism is itself the epitome of The Borg. Although it prides itself on its intellectualism it is really a very lazy, no-thought-required ideology that any dead fish can use to float downstream. It relies on emotions, appeals to a sense of envy and entitlement, requires terms like 'fairness' and 'patriotism' to be redefined, and demands no intellectual rigor to embrace. One need only have a grievance mentality and liberalism is waiting with open arms to embrace you. To be a good liberal, you need only advocate for "fairness" as redefined by the ideology. Liberalism never builds up, it only tears down. It THINKS it builds up but reality says something altogether different. Look at the effects of LBJ's [not so] Great Society. Compare marriage and legitimacy rates in black and white America before and after and you'll see the direct correlation between intentions and results. It TRIED to help "those who ain't got have a little more" but instead it decimated the two-parent family by rewarding and thus incentivizing single motherhood. It is a deeply vile, pernicious ideology that strips man of his sense of pride and self worth and replaces it with a sense of dependence and entitlement. Liberals believe they are independent thinkers but are more prone to GroupThink than any other collection of like-minded people on earth. They virtually all have the same canned responses and snide one-liners to any issue. They dare not stray from the pack without risking a vicious lashing from the rest of the Borg. They are about as independent as any other creature that lives in hives.

After spend my time on CGP I have to agree with this. What I found was while those on the farther reaches of the Left say some pretty outrageous things ("No George Bush no 9-11" and that is an actual quote) as we go towards the center we see the same mind set/ideology only put better. BTW ever notice they scream and yell about Rush Limbaugh....but Rachel Maddow...oh she plays it straight. 2 different countries.

I would hope you are not making any kind of insinuations at to her....proclivities. To tell you the truth it didn't even cross my (so called) mind. Casino67
I thought Conan's best line was the one about Anderson and Rachel. They may agree but nothing is going to happen.
