Geee
Washington Examiner:Rev. Jackson: Gilbert treats LeBron like ‘runaway slave’By: JOEL S. GEHRKE JR.Special to the Examiner07/12/10 11:10 AM EDTIn the aftermath of Lebron James’ free agency flight to Miami, the Rev. Jesse Jackson demonstrated his ability as a sports psychologist, in addition to his regular role as a racial demagogue. After Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert published an open letter accusing Lebron James of everything short of killing kittens, Jackson weighed in on the issue with his usual panache. “He speaks as an owner of LeBron and not the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers,” Jackson said of Gilbert. “His feelings of betrayal personify a slave-master mentality. He sees LeBron as a runaway slave.”To liken one of the world’s wealthiest athletes to a slave is to disrespect the memory of real slaves, isn’t it? Jackson seems unconcerned. And it’s not as though Jackson, who once said he wanted to “cut his [barack Obama's] nuts out” — a brutal punishment once occasionally administered by Southern lynch mobs — is above treating African-Americans like he owns all of them and their opinions. NCTexan
Our buddy Jesse doesn't miss an opportunity to link race, white oppression and sports. He was at his best in this article of a few years ago. Duke: Horror and Truth By Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. © Tribune Media Services “Divorced Mother Of Two, Working Way Through College, Allegedly Raped, Abused By Gang.” Black women; white men. A stripper; and a team blowout. The wealthy white athletes – many from prep schools – of Duke; and the working class woman from historically black North Carolina Central. Race and class and sex. What happened? We don’t know for sure because the Duke players are maintaining a code of silence. The history of white men and black women – the special fantasies and realities of exploitation – goes back to the nation’s beginning and the arrival of slaves from Africa. The patterns associated with this history arouse fears and evoke too many bad memories. “Turn on a music video. A black woman is somebody who has excess sexuality….It’s excess sexuality that white men are entitled to.” In the wake of the Duke scandal, black women across the country report on how often they are harassed or treated as simply objects available to hit on by white men. Al_Simmons
Poor Jesse. He's been rendered so irrelevant by Obama (kind of like a street hustler being supplanted by Al Capone) that he's now reduced to this kind of drivel to get his name back in the news. Ah, when's the next tin-pot dictator going to detain an American so that Jesse can go and 'rescue him/her'? Ooops! Slick Willie (the first black president) has pinched that from Jesse too - at least if the detainees are cute American females (see N. Korea last year) .....
