WestVirginiaRebel
Politico:RNC Research Director Jeff Berkowitz has left his post, POLITICO has learned, becoming the latest party official to part ways with the national committee. Berkowitz's departure was made official on Friday but it's unclear if he voluntarily left or was pushed out. An ally of the oppo man, lamenting the state of the committee, said Berkowitz was asked to leave. RNC spokesman Doug Heye declined to offer details about why the staffer left. Heye did, though, share an email he sent to the committee's staff on Friday announcing Berkowitz's replacement, David Welch. Welch has done research for the NRSC but returned home to New Hampshire to run John McCain's Veterans coalition in the 2008 campaign. Berkowitz ran the RNC research department over the last year, having previously had the same post for Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid. His exit comes as part of an apparently still-unraveling shake-up at the national committee. Chairman Michael Steele's Chief of Staff, top outside consultant, finance director, deputy finance director and a slew of communications aides have all parted ways with the RNC in recent months.________The way heads are rolling, the RNC should open up a bowling ally...
