WATCH: Navy Lacrosse Team Preps for Games by Belting Out 'Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue'

The Naval Academy's women's lacrosse team competes in the Patriot League against schools "with very strong academic reputations that adhere strongly to the ideal of the 'scholar-athlete', with the emphasis on 'scholar'"

At the Naval Academy, it doesn't matter who's playing: men, women, or the goat. The competition is for keeps. And the lacrosse Lady Midshipmen found a unique way to get themselves up for a big game that most of us appreciate.

They belt out the late Toby Keith's 9/11 anthem, "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue."

Hundreds Of Missing Children Rescued In US Marshals Operation

The U.S. Marshals rescued over 200 missing children and arrested 3 individuals as their six-week operation concluded, the Department of Justice (DOJ) announced Monday.

The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), in collaboration with various federal, state and local agencies across seven federal judicial districts, completed a six-week national effort, “Operation We Will Find You 2” (OWWFY2), resulting in the recovery of 200 critically missing children, according to the press release. This operation spanned from May 20 to June 24, targeting areas with high numbers of missing children reports.

The operation saw 123 children rescued from dangerous circumstances and an additional 77 found in safe conditions as verified by law enforcement or child welfare agencies. Among those recovered, 173 were endangered runaways, 25 were categorized as otherwise missing, one was a victim of family abduction, and one was involved in a non-family abduction, the release stated. A child as young as five months was among those rescued, and 14 children were found outside their city of disappearance. Attorney General Merrick B. Garland expressed his gratitude for the efforts.

Archaeologists Discover Ancient Relic Possibly Connected To Moses And The Ten Commandments

Archaeologists from the University of Innsbruck discovered an ancient relic possibly connected to Moses and the Ten Commandments, Fox News reported.

Archaeologists made a significant discovery at a chapel site in southern Austria, according to Fox News. They unearthed a marble shrine containing an ancient ivory box that may have connections to biblical events, particularly the giving of the Ten Commandments to Moses. This find was located under an altar inside a chapel at the summit of Burgbichl, a small hill in the municipality of Irschen in the Carinthian Drava Valley.

The ivory box, around 1,500 years old and decorated with Christian motifs, is a rare artifact. The lead archaeologist Gerald Grabherr noted that their discovery during the excavations is exceptionally rare.

“We know of around 40 ivory boxes of this kind worldwide and, as far as I know, the last time one of these was found during excavations was around 100 years ago – the few pyxes that exist are either preserved in cathedral treasures or exhibited in museums,” Grabherr said, Fox News reported.

Another intriguing aspect of the box’s decoration is a motif showing a man in a chariot drawn by two horses, known as a biga, with the same divine hand pulling the figure into the heavens, Fox News reported. Grabherr suggests this represents the ascension of Christ, linking Old Testament themes with those of the New Testament, a typical practice in late antiquity. However, this specific portrayal of Christ’s Ascension is unique and adds a distinctive aspect to the artifact’s historical and artistic value.:snip:

History enthusiast finds artifact belonging to George Washington at Goodwill: 'Very unusual'

An artifact that originally belonged to President George Washington recently landed in the hands of a Virginia history enthusiast – and then a museum – all thanks to Goodwill.

The piece is currently on display in the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. Collector Richard "Dana" Moore stumbled across the artifact – which is a six-inch-long piece of linen fabric from Washington's dining marquee, or tent – on Goodwill's auction site.

The fabric was auctioned off with a note that read: "a piece of George Washingtons tent, from the history building at Jamestown exposition 1907 property of John Burns Dec 23rd 07."

While most of Moore's collection is made up of Civil War artifacts, he has also accumulated pieces from the American Revolution and the War of 1812 over the years through metal detecting. During an interview with Fox News Digital, the history buff said that he thought the piece "couldn't be real" at first.

"But when I zoomed in, the fabric looked authentically old," he explained. "The brief handwritten note referencing the Jamestown Exposition of 1907, which was attached with a rusty pin, added to the feeling of age."

"My gut kept telling me this could be real."

Feeling that the piece was special, Moore bought the fabric on the auction site for $1,300. Moore explained that after buying the piece, he felt overwhelmed about being responsible "for such an important artifact of history."

He waited to tell his wife, Susan Bowen, about the purchase, which she was initially skeptical about.:snip:

Archaeologists uncover 250-year-old musket balls tied to American Revolution in Massachusetts

Archaeologists working at Minute Man National Historical Park in Concord, Massachusetts, unearthed a piece of American history tied to the "shot heard round the w

Five musket balls were discovered and believed to be fired at British forces by colonial militia members during the North Bridge fight, Jarrad Fuoss, Minute Man park ranger and historic weapons specialist, confirmed to Fox News Digital.

The ammunition was found in an area where British soldiers formed up to resist the river crossing and analysis indicates that each one was fired from the opposite side of the river, not dropped during the process of reloading, according the

The North Bridge battle site is located within the park and marks the moment when local militia leaders ordered members to fire upon their own government’s soldiers for the first time on April 19, 1775.

"These musket balls can be considered collectively as 'The Shot Heard Round the World,' and it is incredible that they have survived this long. It is also a poignant reminder that we are all stewards of this battlefield and are here to preserve and protect our shared history," Fuoss said.

Fuoss said the musket balls were made of lead, which was very common at the time period, as others could be comprised of different metals.:snip:

Archaeologists make remarkable discovery at Christianity’s holiest site — covered up by graffiti

A long-lost altar dating from the times of the crusades was discovered hidden in plain sight by archaeologists at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem — one of the holiest sites in Christianity where Jesus is believed to have resurrected from the dead.

The stunning discovery was first made when construction workers overturned a massive stone slab leaning against a wall in the church that had been sitting there for an unknown amount of time, according to the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

The several-ton hunk of marble was in a publicly accessible corridor in the rear of the church and was even covered in graffiti.

The other side of the stone, however, was magnificently decorated and identified the slab as the front panel of the altar used by Crusaders in the middle ages from when it was consecrated in 1149 up until it vanished from history when a massive fire destroyed part of the church hundreds of years later.

We know of pilgrim accounts from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries about a magnificent marble altar in Jerusalem,” said Ilya Berkovich, historian at the Institute for Habsburg and Balkan Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

“In 1808, there was a major fire in the Romanesque part of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre,” says Berkovich. “Since then, the Crusader’s altar was lost – at least that’s what people thought for a long time.”

The Austrian Academy of Sciences said the find was “sensational” as it begs the question how such an important relic could remain hidden from academics’ eyes in one of the most intensely researched buildings in Christianity.

“The fact that something so important could stand unrecognized in this of all places was completely unexpected for all concerned,” said Berkovich.:snip:

1. VERY COOL!

2. I'm surprised  they can build anything n  that area, without uncovering something that's not 1000-6000 years old.

Feel-Good Friday: 'Folds of Honor' Gives Scholarships to the Families of Fallen and Disabled Vets

This week's Feel-Good Friday pays tribute to our armed service members and first responders, and those who seek to honor their service. Former President and GOP nominee Donald Trump will be returning to Butler, PA, for a rally in honor of fallen firefighter Corey Comperatore, who was murdered by an assassin's bullet at the July 13 Trump rally, at which the former president was also injured. That's ballsy of Trump, but also a powerful testament to his resilience, and a touching tribute to a man who gave to his community and gave his life for his family.

"Folds of Honor" is an organization that seeks to honor those who lay down their lives as well. The name is a hat tip to the folded flag presented to the family at the funeral of their loved one who served. Founded in 2007 by Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, its mission statement of “Honor Their Sacrifice. Educate Their Legacy,” is fulfilled through helping the spouses and children of armed service members who have been disabled or have died in combat. The money that Folds of Honor raises goes directly into scholarships and educational programs. The non-profit offers scholarships of up to $5,000 that are awarded based on the “unmet need” of the applicant. The recipient can use these scholarships to help pay for tuition costs, textbooks, room and board, tutoring, and any other educational expenses.

The vision for Folds of Honor was born on Rooney's flight home from his second tour of duty in Iraq. Even though the plane's captain requested that everyone remain seated while the remains of a fallen warrior and his family were allowed a solemn exit, Rooney said that half the seats were empty because the other passengers disregarded the request. Rooney was determined to come up with a way to pay tribute to those who had given their lives in the service of their country.:snip:

Simone Biles & Co. are the unifying heroes our squabbling country needs right now

Team USA is running rings around America’s cynicism and division.

Stateside, there’s a political battle royal: ugly fights online, anti-Israel protesters spraying DC with pro-terrorist graffiti, and racially segregated Zoom pep rallies for Kamala Harris.

Meanwhile, in Paris, the only colors that matter are red, white and blue. And our American athletes, in their infinite greatness, are shining a light of unity across the ocean.

It feels like a much-needed respite and distraction. A nightly salve coming through the boob tube.

On Tuesday, we witnessed the triumphant return of gymnast Simone Biles pushing through injury to help her team, including the wonderful Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and Hezly Rivera, to gold.

Our comeback queen showed the power of grit. As she attempted the vault, the event that gave her the “twisties” and led her to dropping out in Tokyo three years ago, we all collectively held our breath.:snip:

In This Michigan Town, the Mayor Was a Dog. Now, They’ve Elected a Horse

On July 20 in Omena, a small town in the “little finger” of northern Michigan, a crowd of about a hundred locals gathered in a church parking lot for the inauguration of their new mayor. A brass band played “The Stars and Stripes Forever” as Sally Viskochil, president of the local historical society, walked across the patriotically festooned stage to make the announcement.

“And our new mayor is. . . ” There was a collective intake of breath. “Lucky!”

There was a smattering of applause, but a few members of the audience looked stunned. Mike McKenzie, 53, an Illinoisan with a summer home in Omena, turned to me, befuddled.

“Boy,” he said. “I guess people really are fed up with the old two-species system.”:snip:
