Bryan County Schools in Georgia agreed to pay Lindsey Barr a sum of $181,000 and reinstate her as a substitute teacher after the Christian mother filed a lawsuit that accused the school district of violating her right to religious freedom last October. WISCONSIN COURT TO RULE ON WHETHER SCHOOL DISTRICT CAN ALLOW GENDER TRANSITIONS WITHOUT PARENTAL OK Barr had been fired after she told the principal of McAllister Elementary School in Richmond Hill, Georgia, that she was concerned that a school read-aloud program was using a picture book that positively portrayed same-sex relationships, citing her Christian religious beliefs on marriage and family and that her two children were being exposed to content that conflicted with her religious beliefs. The school excused Barr's children from the program but subsequently fired her from her position as a substitute teacher. In a statement announcing that the school district had settled the lawsuit, Philip Sechler, an attorney for Alliance Defending Freedom, a nonprofit conservative legal organization that represented Barr, praised the school district for agreeing to the settlement.
