Valin
The Washington Examiner Kaelan Deese, Supreme Court Reporter November 24, 2022 Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted Thursday that he would be granting "general amnesty" to suspended accounts beginning next week after he issued a poll over whether the social media platform should restore impacted accounts. “Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?” Musk asked in the Twitter poll, which allows any users on the website to offer their input. The final results of the poll showed 72% of users voted in favor of amnesty and gained responses from more than 3 million accounts. (Snip) This week, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) sent a letter to the "Chief Twit" asking that he address allegations voiced by former Twitter head of security Peiter Zatko about employees having direct access to user data without proper protections. Grassley and other lawmakers inquired about the data being used by foreign agents for nefarious purposes.

Valin
Elon Musk says he will make an alternative phone if Apple, Google ban Twitter "I certainly hope it does not come to that, but, yes, if there is no other choice, I will make an alternative phone," Musk said. Joshua Young Youngsville North Carolina Nov 25, 2022 On Friday, Twitter owner Elon Musk, who also is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said that if Twitter is removed from app stores owned by Apple and Google, whose phones only use those systems, he would create an alternative phone. Liz Wheeler wrote, "If Apple & Google boot Twitter from their app stores, @elonmusk should produce his own smartphone. Half the country would happily ditch the biased, snooping iPhone & Android. The man builds rockets to Mars, a silly little smartphone should be easy, right?" (Snip) On Friday, Taylor Lorenz used her latest column in the Washington Post to call for Apple and Google app stores to pull Twitter from their stores. This came after Musk announced that there will be a general amnesty for all banned accounts, following a poll of Twitter users.. Lorenz complains that Musk brought back conservative Christian satire site The Babylon Bee, who was banned by noting that Rachel Levine is a biological male. After Time Magazine awarded Levine "woman of the year," The Babylon Bee awarded Levine "man of the year." (Snip)
Valin
Whither the Trust & Safety Council? Scott Johnson Nov. 26 2022 The Associated Press is one of the anchors of the garbage media in its newsprint form. The garbage manifests in a wide variety of aspects. See, for example, its story “Musk says granting amnesty to suspended Twitter accounts.” The headline is a bit difficult to decipher and the “reporter” who wrote it is not identified. The story, however, is datelined San Francisco. Perhaps that is all ye need to know. The story is saturated with hostility to new Twitter, as I call it. The AP is, shall we say, unhappy that Musk is undoing the work of Twitter’s Trust and Safety Council. Members of the Trust and Safety Council are also unhappy with new Twitter. Despite the patent hostility of the story to Musk and to new Twitter, the AP has tweeted out the story (below). The tweet draws on the story’s opening paragraph to provide an unintentionally hilariously variation on the “experts say” ventriloquism (as Steve Hayward calls it) that gives away the story’s tilt. The Associated Press @AP New Twitter owner Elon Musk said he is granting "amnesty” for suspended accounts, which online safety experts predict will spur a rise in harassment, hate speech and misinformation. (Snip) Elon Musk @elonmusk Replying to @AP AP is such an expert in misinformation. Twitter couldn’t hope to compete! 8:52 PM · Nov 24, 2022 Elon Musk @elonmusk Replying to @elonmusk and @AP But you have piqued my curiosity … who are these “online experts” you speak of? 9:04 PM · Nov 24, 2022 (Snip)
