On Saturday, police cleared Wellington Street in front of Parliament Hill of protesters for the first time since the demonstration began on Jan. 28. As officers began moving into the downtown core on Friday, several vehicles left Wellington Street, Kent Street and other jurisdictions. Interim chief Steve Bell says the investigation will not end when the demonstrators leave the streets of Ottawa. "If you are involved in this protest, we will actively look to identify you and follow up with financial sanctions and criminal charges," Bell said. "This investigation will go on for months to come; it has many, many different streams both from a federal financial level, from a provincial licensing level, from a Criminal Code level, from a municipal breach of court order, breach of court injunction level." Hannah Nightingale Washington DC February 22, 2022 A recent poll has revealed that a majority of American Democrats approve of the Canadian Prime Minister's crackdown on the freedom protestors in Ottawa after he invoked the Emergencies Act early last week. In a poll conducted by the Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action obtained by The Daily Wire, it revealed that 55 percent of likely general election voters overall disapprove of Trudeau's handling of the protestors in Ottawa and beyond. 35 percent overall approved of Trudeau’s crackdown, while 10 percent said they were unaware of what's happening to the US' northern neighbor. Looking at Democrat likely voters alone, 65 percent said they favored Trudeau’s crackdown on the protestors, and 17 percent said they disapproved.
